Entry 8- Parappa The Rapper

Image
Sup fellow nerds, Iron Pearl here for entry 8 of this blog. I am very sad to say that this will be the final entry of this blog as the course is coming close to the end, but I am very grateful that I was given the opportunity to run this blog as part of this class, so thank you to everyone who made this possible. I hope this blog has enlightened you on why some of these games are definitely worth picking up in your spare time, as well as inspiring those to share their gaming experiences past and present. Even though the blog will be over, there will be more gaming in life and it will never truly end. So to go off with a bang, I will be looking at one of the very first video games I ever played in my life. Parappa the Rapper on PS1, released in 1997. I have played with many consoles in my lifetime but the very first one I remember having for myself, was my dad's original PlayStation (PS1) back in 2002. One of the first games I ever remember trying for it was this game off of a demo...

Entry 7- Mario Kart Double Dash

Image
Welcome back fellow nerds, we are now on entry 7 of this blog! There are not many entries left to go after this and while it will be sad to say goodbye to the blog, it has been a nice little experience I am glad I got to try out so thank you to those who decided to stick along with me if you have. Anyways, let's dive in to our game of discussion today. Today we will be discussing Mario Kart Double Dash for the Nintendo GameCube released in 2003. Now Mario is a character that needs absolutely no introduction regardless on how familiar one is with the gaming industry. Ever since he was created in 1981 by Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto he has become a cultural icon spawning hundreds and hundreds of games for countless systems and platforms for over 40 years, not to mention the countless amount of merchandise, TV shows, movies, and theme park attractions that have been created as a result of the series success. The reasons for his success boil down to many factors but the key one her...

Entry 6- Tomodachi Life

Image
Welcome back nerds and nerdettes! Unfortunately due to a busy schedule this week this entry is probably going to be the shortest one so far, but not to worry I have selected a fantastic game to discuss today. This entry will be about the game Tomodachi Life, released in 2014 for the Nintendo 3DS.    Back in 2006, when Nintendo released their console the Wii, they came up with the brilliant idea of allowing players to make their own characters called Miis. Miis are characters you  create yourself based on whoever you want them to be, whether it is based on you, your family and friends, famous celebrities, or fictional characters. Growing up, my family and I had so much fun with this feature and we would follow guides on how to create certain characters as well as making our own based on family members and just weird imagination based Miis that only an imaginative child could have come up with. This idea became a huge hit for Nintendo and the Miis have been a mainstay...

Entry 5- Pacman World 2 (Xbox)

Image
Welcome back nerds and nerdettes, it has been a while due to the school holiday and being busy with assignments and work but now we are finally starting review 5 today. How exciting! I do not have much to say before we start so lets get right into it. Today's review is another favorite of mine that I played growing up, and is based on one of my favorite characters of all time. Today we will be looking at Pacman World 2 (Specifically the original Xbox version but the game is also available on PS2, GameCube, PC, and Gameboy Advance) released in 2002. Pacman is a character who has no need for an introduction, if you have ever been to an arcade or a retro video game store, you have seen this lovable little guy in some form. Debuting in 1980, Pacman was created by Toru Iwatani in Japan as a game that would be easily accessible for all gamers, regardless of gender or age. For the past 43 years he has been an icon in the gaming industry, but while most people mainly know him for his arca...

Entry 4- Super Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting

Image
Welcome back mates, we are now on entry 4 of this blog and I am very excited to be doing todays review because its a game I have been going back to recently and I have been in quite the mood for it. This one is a bit different as this was not a game I initially grew up on, but I have become a fan of it thanks to an online friend of mine. It is considered one of the greatest fighting games of all time and helped start the fighting game competition craze we all know today. That's right today we will be looking at Street Fighter 2 Super Turbo: Hyper Fighting, released on the SNES in 1993.    Street Fighter is another one of those series where you have at least heard of the name before, it has been referenced countless times ranging from rapper Nikki Minaj, to Family Guy and even by the demonic clown Pennywise himself. It is one that needs no introduction, but for context, 1 or 2 players pick from a colorful cast of various characters from different part...

Welcome back to Gamer Goodybag my fellow nerds, hope everyone is doing well and thank you for returning for returning for the newest entry. My preamble will not be as long as the previous posts do not worry, I just want to say if anyone here has played any of the games I reviewed and want to offer their opinions of if they enjoyed them or not, feel free to leave a comment down below I love hearing stories about these kinds of things. Alright, let's not waste any time and jump straight into today's topic. Sonic 2 for Sega Genesis released in 1992.             Despite being born in 1999, I had a lot of fond memories playing many video games that were before my time due to hand me downs from family and neighbors, as well as playing rereleases of many games before that era on newer consoles at the time. Regardless if you are a regular or casual gamer,  chances are you have played at least one Sonic game in your life. I fell in lov...

Welcome back friends to another game review! Before we begin this week's review I would like  to thank those who left feedback on my previous review. Any advice or opinions on my posts and their content are more than welcome as I am always looking to improve my work and make my content enjoyable for everyone. Without further adieu we shall begin today's review. Now today we will be talking about a  very important game that has led to one of the most iconic franchises of all time. Today's review will be Super Smash Bros for the Nintendo 64.     Now I am sure many of you are at least somewhat familiar with the name Super Smash Brothers, as it is one of the most successful gaming series of all time. The most recent entry, Super Smash Bros Ultimate on Nintendo Switch is played by millions to this day competitively and recreationally. The Second entry in the series Super Smash Bros Melee on GameCube is also a favorite amongst the competitive fighting g...
